It truly takes a coalition of volunteers working together to educate Topangans about disaster preparedness. Below are capsule descriptions and links to TCEP’s five main coalition partner organizations. Contact them if you’d like to volunteer and make a difference in your community.

TOPANGA ANIMAL RESCUE

Topanga Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization that has helped animals throughout Topanga for over 20 years. They provide local rescue placement services for lost or abandoned domestic animals, as well as immediate medical field triage and treatment for injured animals.

TOPANGA CERT

The Topanga Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is comprised of volunteers trained in basic medical and disaster response. The team provides support to Los Angeles County Sheriff and Los Angeles County Fire personnel during and after major disasters. The Topanga Canyon Fire Safe Council is a volunteer organization that collaborates with Topanga residents, the California Fire Safe Council, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the National Park Service, and other stakeholders, to help make Topanga a more Fire Adapted Community.

ARSON WATCH

Arson Watch is a volunteer program of the Malibu–Lost Hills Sheriff’s station with a mission to help prevent wildfires in the Santa Monica Mountains. Volunteers patrol the area by car, horseback, bicycle, and on foot looking for signs of fires, fire hazards, and any suspicious activities that might start a fire.
